Pangkor Island

Pangkor Island, also known as Pulau Pangkor locally is a resort island off Manjung area in the state of Perak in West Malaysia.  It has a population of about 25,000 people.  Pangkor Island is 18km in land area and 3.5 kilometer off the land of Peninsula Malaysia.

Pangkor Island is a fishing and tourism island due to its vicinity and surrounded by sea, beautiful beaches and other small islands nearly. The highest point in Pangkor is the Pangkor Hill which is about 1216 on the highest point. The roads in Pangkor are surrounding around the island.

Getting Around Pangkor Island

The best way to get around Pulau Pangkor is by motorbikes and cars.  The rental of these transportation is available at the port. Motorbikes can be rented for RM25-40 per day and cars from RM80-150 per day.  The prices varies from rental companies, types of vehicles and season.  Bicycles can also be rented however it may take more energy to cycle the steep roads in Pangkor.  Pink taxis are also available for rent.

 

Attractions and activities in Pangkor Island

Pangkor Island has many beautiful beaches and there are many fun attractions and activities in Pangkor Island for visitors and guests.

Beach activities and water sports are available at the beaches like the Bogak Beach and Nipah Beach.  There are jet ski,  banana boat, speed boats, canoe rides for rent.  Snorkelling are also available in the Giam Island.

As Pangkor Island is a fishermens island, seafood and restaurants are in abundance.

Due to the mountainous areas in Pangkor, one can also do light hjungle treks around the island at Pangkor Hill Trek and eastern side of the island.

There are also temples like Fu Lin Kung Taoist temple found at the foot of Pangkor Hill at Sungai Pinang Besar, Li Ye Kong Temple at the end of the Coral Bay near Teluk Nipah, the Indian Kali Amman Temple.
